How to Learn Massage
There are a variety of approaches to learning massage, but how do they measure up?
How to Learn Massage Therapy
Is there a perfect way to learn to massage? The truth is that there are a variety of approaches but they are not necessarily created equal in terms of the result they produce. So, how do they measure up?
Massage Books and Manuals: Even though there are plenty of good massage books available on the market, they leave a lot of space for speculation and should primarily be seen as a way to refresh your memory in relation to what you learned in a hands-on massage course.
Massage Videos and DVD’s: Videos have an advantage over books in that they show massage techniques in motion and with their natural flow. Therefore, they leave less space for speculation. The main problem with this approach is that there is no supervision so you may not learn the techniques properly.
Online massage courses: Just recently, some people began introducing online massage courses on the Internet. These websites offer a subscription by which members can freely access and watch particular massage techniques. This approach does not seem to have any advantage over videos and is similarly lacking in supervision.
Massage Lessons: Some massage therapy schools and
massage institutes offer massage lessons, which are sessions of 1-2
hours at a time and are usually held twice a week. This massage education
takes about 6 months to 1 year to finish. It is easy to believe that
this is a very good way to learn to massage, but we have heard students
complain that it is hard to get a grip on the practical aspect when
the times of actual practice are so far apart.
Massage Seminars: Massage seminars are basically massage lessons back to back. Our experience has shown that shorter, full time, hands-on massage therapy courses (massage seminars) are much more efficient and lead to more confident students. These seminars are preferred worldwide by people who are serious about wanting to learn massage.
Brandon Raynor's Massage Course: Compared to other massage schools' courses,
our courses have a short duration, which are 5-Day Certificate Massage Course
or 10-Day Diploma Massage Course. Now.. even though our courses have a short duration, students are taught
intensively from morning to night in consecutive days.
Furthermore, our courses teach more about practical aspects rather than the theoritical ones.
By doing so, students learn by doing. And this results in a better understanding of the basic concepts and ability to start
practicing the massage techniques quickly.
The courses itself are simple and the teachers are happy to assist students who have difficulties.
